We're supposed to get a wicked freezing rain storm tonight and tomorrow morning. Not awesome. Snow is one thing. Freezing rain has no value. Rain or snow. Don't do both. It shows lack of conviction. I hate to think of Mother Nature as a waffler.

Yeah, we're currently getting the freezing rain storm that KF is mentioning. I give my car another couple hours before it's frozen shut. At least today's just a day where I sit inside, write, and wear scooby doo pajamas.

I had a snow storm today, and the weather forcasts predict freezing rain tomorrow and snow again on Monday. Yay.

I was in my basement playing Mass Effect for like 30 minutes, came up stairs, and everything is covered! Almost two inches! I love the snow, especially since we only get it once or twice a year here in the city.

It's been snowing all day here in Minneapolis. I wouldn't be surprised if we have over a foot by the time it's all through. Lets hear it for not having to drive anywhere!

Yeah, we've got good snow coming down here in Salt Lake. I grow less enamored with Winter every year, though it's good to have some precipitation. At least the sky will do that cool gray thing tonight.
It was just freezing f---ing cold here in Brooklyn. Skies were pretty clear. Should get a "snow and winter mix" tomorrow.

It's like, what, 80 degrees in So. Cal. right now?

My dream is to live in a place that only gets snow a few times a year. I'm sick of living in Michigan with the snow sticking around pretty much from late November to early March.

:D It poured rain all day yesterday in San Diego. The newspaper reported it was record-breaking in some areas.
One way or the other, it's the most rain I've ever experienced while living here. Gloriousness.

Not a fan of animals?? :(
I like dogs more than people....way more than people. :)
Luna is the black one, a female mini schnauzer, and Simon is the white one, a male mini poodle. They both rule.
They are both really big for minis, we got the giants of the litters.

The last 5 or 6 years I've really missed having snow throughout the end of November and right through December. It just hasn't happened.
In fact we've had green Christmases the last two years. It's just not the same.
It's quite snowy here as well, and they are calling for a huge storm tomorrow afternoon.
I really hope all the snow sticks around, at least 'til Christmas day.

Colorado is where it's at. Other then the occassional blizzard (or three last year) the snow falls, but by two or so, it's gone because it gets warm again.
Love it.

Yeah. I couldn't stand it if it lasted all winter long. It's cool here in Seattle. We get it a couple of times, get to miss work a day or two (the hills make the commute an impossibility), and then it is gone.

Odds are pretty good that my wife and I (and the kids if Lasse will give them back) will be moving to Portland in about a year and a half. We're going out there this summer to check things out and make a final decision. I've been told there isn't too much snow out there either.

Let me rephrase. I never want to own animals (though I'd take a cat if you made me), but Luna looks magestic.
In other news, my car is now officially frozen shut. Enjoy it, KF and other easterners...

I don't mean to seem nosey so if you'd rather not say that's fine, but why did you decide to move? Work? Change of scenery?

Both of those reasons actually. I've lived my entire life in the same 5 mile radius. I'm tired of it (and tired of our miserable economy and the general apathy that coincides with it). It's a flat, boring landscape with weather I don't much care for. I'm ready for a change. So my wife and I have been investigating different cities and Portland is #1 on our list as of right now. It seems like a great place to open a new store, which is something we were planning on doing soon. Instead of finding a new spot in Michigan, we decided to make a clean break and go somewhere with a better quality of life. I'm gonna miss the hell out of my family, who have all lived in that same 5 mile radius, but we both have thought hard about it and feel it's necessary.

Well I wish you all the luck in the world.
I have actually never moved very far in my life. We once lived in another suburb of Ottawa called Barrhaven. I was born there and lived there 'til I was 5, then we moved to where we are now. My memories of that first house are pretty limited.
I am planning on moving to New York City within the next year, so I can be with Jen.

The Lasse comment made me laugh.
Good luck, KF. It sounds like a great plan.
EDIT: Great photos, Daniel.

Funny, because Simon is actually more graceful and majestic, where as Luna is a brute. She's blunt and stubborn.

I've never understood people who say animals are soulless and don't have personalities.

Portland really is great. My girlfriend and I will probably inch our way north again in June to live there. Eugene's too small for us SoCal folks.

I want to be living on the West coast by next September. Vancouver, most likely. I used to live out there. Love it.

I'm moving to Portland myself next fall. I'm kind of in the same boat as KF. I need to get away from where I grew up (and Indiana is even worse than Michigan).
